Hawking, a British cosmologist who was diagnosed with motor neuron disease aged 21, said technology could transform every aspect of life but cautioned that artificial intelligence poses new challenges.

SAN FRANCISCO: Google is offering security experts a bounty to identify Android app flaws as the Alphabet Inc unit seeks to wipe out bugs from its Google Play store. Each flaw will score at least US$1,000 (RM4,220) under the programme announced yesterday to back up automated checks that have failed to block malware and other problems that security experts say infect the eight-year-old app store far more than Apple Inc’s rival App Store. Google will partner with HackerOne, a bug bounty programme management website, to target a list of apps and flaws such as those that allow a hacker to redirect a user to a phishing website or infect a gadget with a virus. ROME: Visitors to Rome’s Trevi Fountain were on their best behaviour yesterday as the city started testing out a plan to clamp down on tourists dipping their feet into the basin of the centuries-old landmark. A public outcry over inappropriate behaviour at the Italian capital’s monuments prompted the mayor to decree in June that anyone caught paddling in fountains or picnicking on their pedestals could be fined up to €240 (about RM1,197). Volunteers in police uniform patrolled the crowd around the travertine basin which surrounds the stone rendering of Tritons guiding the shell chariot of water god Oceanus. Bnnonline24.com
